Mirjam Tally’s “Turbulence” in Venice Biennale

On Thursday, 2 October at 8 p.m Mirjam Tally’s orchestral piece “Turbulence”(2006) will have its Italian premiere in the opening concert of the Venice Biennale’s 52nd International Festival of Contemporary Music. Along with Tally, pieces by Juste Janylute, Luigi Nono and Igor Stravinsky will be performed by the Orchestra and Choir of the Teatro La Fenice with conductor Eliahu Inbal.

Mirjam Tally’s “Turbulence” for amplified orchestra and live-electronics was premiered in Estonian Music Days Festival 2007 by the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (con. Risto Joost) and also won the EMD Festival Award. It has also been chosen to the programme of ISCM World New Music Days 2008 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Venice Biennale’s International Festival of Contemporary Music was established in 1930 and was the first festival to run alongside the International Art Exhibition, that had characterized the birth of the Biennale back in 1895.
