Music Prizes Were Given Out on International Music Day

On 1 October, the International Music Day, Estonian Music Council and the Sound Capital of Estonian Cultural Endowment gave out prizes, some of which were granted to the members of Estonian Composers’ Union.

The composition prize of Estonian Music Council was given to Veljo Tormis – the luminary of Estonian music who has given new breathing to Estonian and its relative nations tradition. The prizes of Sound Capital of Cultural Endowment went to musicologist Raili Sule for long-time and distinguished pedagogical work and to Mirjam Tally for bright creative year.

Other prizes of Music Council were given to Eri Klas and Laine Leichter, the prizes of Sound Capital of Cultural Endowment went to Ensemble U:, Tõnis Kõrvits, Urmas Vulp, Toomas Rull, Marje Lohuaru, Ain Agan and Aleksei Saks and to the creative collective of documentary film Anthems of the Father of Song. Composers’ Union congratulates all the laureates.
