The Netherlands Chamber Choir Performs a New Piece by Helena Tulve in France and Netherlands

The Netherlands Chamber Choir performs the new piece I Am a River by Helena Tulve in its concert programme La voce femminile. Helena Tulve’s a cappella choir piece was created for the text by Turkish poet Mawlânâ Jalâluddîn Rûmî, translated to English by Nevit Oguz Ergin. The work was premiered on 22 September at Morteau Notre Dame Church in Besançon International Festival. The concerts have also taken place in Besançon (Kursaal) and Sochaux (France), additionally in Leeuwarden, Holland. There are still two concerts left in Holland: on 1 October at Gouda St. John Church and on 2 October at Utrecht St. Peter Church.

The concert series La voce femminile of the Netherlands Chamber Choir includes music by Edith Canat de Chizy, Saskia Macris and Claude Debussy. In addition to Helena Tulve, new piece has been commissioned from Serbian origin composer Isidora Zhebeljan. All those concerts are conducted by Norwegian conductor Grete Pedersen.
