Estonian Music Days festival passes on sale

First festival passes of Estonian Music Days are on sale at Piletilevi. In 2014 Estonian Music Days (EMD) focus on symphonic large scale works. The festival will be held from 5-11 April 2014 in Tallinn. The Estonian Music Days Festival dates back to 1979 and focuses on the most recent music by Estonian composers. In 2014 the festival celebrates its 35th anniversary, the programme includes musicians from various genres and brings together several art forms.

Tallinn 2011: Estonian Music at Euroradio Music Week

From 7-13 March 2011, Klassikaraadio, the classical music channel of the Estonian radio will broadcast 10 concerts that are part of the European Capital of Culture 2011 Tallinn Programme. The Euroradio week dedicated to Estonia is full of different events and gives a good overview of various aspects of the Estonian music scene, its leading ensembles and soloists, choirs and orchestras. The Euroradio music week includes premiere of Awakenings by Erkki-Sven Tüür, also his Symphon No. 8. Additionally, music by Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Rein Rannap, Ester Mägi, Kuldar Sink, Eduard Tubin, Artur Kapp and Tarmo Lepik are found in the concert programmes of many Estonian collectives and musicians.

Premiere of Canon by Tõnu Kõrvits

On Sunday, 16 January at 4 pm, there will be a premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’ choir work Canon at Estonia Concert Hall. The premiere will take place at the omcert of Tallinn Music High School.

Tallinn 2011 Brings Composer Mirjam Tally to Pirita

In January, the all-year-long event series A Composer in Residence for Every District in Tallinn takes off from Pirita district with music by Mirjam Tally. This series is part of Estonian Composers’ Union‘s contribution to European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.

In January, Mirjam Tally is the composer in residence of Pirita. On Wednesday, 12 January at 7 pm Pirita Monastery opens its doors for Mirjam Tally’s Composers’ Recital. Her music will be performed by ensemble Resonabilis and accordionist Sirje Mõttus, accompanied by Indrek Hirv‘s poems. On 14 January, Mirjam Tally also meets the students at the Pirita Gymnasium of Economics. In the photo series by artist Jaanus Samma, Pirita will be seen from quite unfamiliar angle.

Kõrvitsa ja Pärdi esiettekanded Tallinna Kammerorkestrilt

Laupäeval, 4. detsembril toob Tallinna Kammerorkester Tõnu Kaljuste dirigeerimisel esiettekandele Tõnu Kõrvitsa teose „Labürindid“ keelpillidele (2010). Samuti on Eesti esiettekandel Arvo PärdiSilhouette. Hommage à Gustave Eiffel“ keelpillidele ja löökpillidele (2009), mille maailmaesiettekande tegi hiljuti Orchester de Paris Paavo Järvi dirigeerimisel.

Esiettekanded Resonabilise kavas „rePRESSIOON II“

Ansambli Resonabilis uues kontserdikavas „rePRESSIOON II“ tulevad esiettekandele värsked uudisteosed Mirjam Tallylt, Tauno Aintsilt ja Andres Kallastult. Täpsemalt kõlavad esiettekandes Mirjam TallyVeesilm“, Tauno Aintsi „3film“ ja Andrus KallastuEleegiline Troop“. Lisaks tuleb nüüd ka ametlikult Eesti esiettekandele Helena Tulve teos „North Wind, South Wind“, mida võis kuulda septembris Walesis Vale of Glamorgan Festivalil. Kontserdil võib kuulda ka Kristi Mühlingu seadet Anton Weberni Variatsioonidest op. 27 ning Kaija Saariaho teost „Mirrors“. Resonabilise kontserdid pealkirjaga „rePRESSIOON II“ toimuvad laupäeval, 27 novembril kell 19 Tallinnas Vanalinna Muusikamaja saalis, ning pühapäeval, 28. novembril kell 18 Viljandis Pärimusmuusika Aida väikeses saalis.

Arvo Pärdi esiettekanne Orchester de Paris’lt

Orchestre de Paris toob neljapäeval, 4. novembril esiettekandele Arvo Pärdi uue teose „Silhouette, hommage a Gustave Eiffel”. Dirigeerib orkestri peadirigent Paavo Järvi, kontsert toimub Prantsusmaa pealinnas Pariisis, Salle Pleyelis.
