Eesti muusikud on mitmete salvestustega tänavuste Grammy nominentide hulgas. Arvo Pärdi Sümfoonia nr. 4 kandideerib parima nüüdisklassikateose kategoorias (Best Classical Contemporary Composition). Los Angelese Filharmooniaorkestri salvestuse dirigent on Esa-Pekka Salonen ning see pärineb ECM-i plaadilt “Pärt: Symphony No. 4”. Sama album sisaldab muuseas ka katkendi Pärdi teosest “Kanon Pokajanen“, mille on esitanud Eesti Filharmoonia Kammerkoor Tõnu Kaljuste dirigeerimisel.

On 26 November, Laine Jänes, the Minister of Culture announced composer Erkki-Sven Tüür the Citizen of the Year. The title was announced at the conference The Nurcery of Good Citizen.

On 1 October, the International Music Day, Estonian Music Council and the Sound Capital of Estonian Cultural Endowment gave out prizes, some of which were granted to the members of Estonian Composers’ Union.

Laureate of Heino Eller Music Award 2006 is Ülo Krigul

Laureates of the Heino Eller Music Award 2006 are composer Ülo Krigul and music teacher Vivian Tordik. The young composers award was given to Ülo Krigul for his chamber and symphonic works of recent years, including the Young Composer prize at the young.euro.classics.festival 2005 held in Berlin.
