European Cultural Capital Tallinn 2011 presents:
A Composer in Residence for Every District in Tallinn
Estonia is home for a number of nice composers who have still remained Mirjam, Tanja, Märt-Matis, Piret, Tauno, Erkki-Sven, Urmas and Tõnu – even when being busy on world stages. They often derive inspiration for their works from home ground – why not from the districts of Tallinn. During the year of European Cultural Capital, the composers share a bit of their inspiration with townspeople.
During one month, each composer relates his or her music with one district of Tallinn. The composer recitals in every district include a new composition, written specially for this occasion. Every composer has some lectures in schools or public meetings in the district. Art projects dealing with public space help to create even more powerful bond bond with districts.
